Job description

We are seeking dedicated, motivated qualified professionals to join us in Queen Elizabeth Hospitals - Theatres. As key members of the team, you will deliver high standards of perioperative care and support the multidisciplinary team to facilitate excellent patient care in the operating theatres.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care from admission to discharge using an integrated care pathway (ICP) or the nursing process.
  2. Assist anaesthetist/surgeon with emergency and elective procedures across hospital departments.
  3. Maintain stock levels for effective perioperative care.
  4. Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and the multidisciplinary team.
  5. Understand clinical governance principles, including audit and evidence-based practice.
  6. Maintain documentation in line with NMC standards and Trust policies.
  7. Administer medication according to NMC and Trust guidelines.
  8. Develop skills for emergency situations, such as cardiac arrest.
  9. Practice within corporate and local policies.
  10. Be professionally sensitive to the needs of patients and colleagues.
  11. Participate in your Personal Development Plan, identifying professional, educational, and training needs.
  12. Ensure ongoing professional development in line with NMC requirements.

Requirements:

  • You must be a Registered Nurse or hold an ODP qualification with proven experience in perioperative care.
