Job summary

TEKsystems in Leeds, UK is seeking OpenShift Engineers for a 6-month contract inside IR35 to design, build and operate a secure, compliant OpenShift platform. The role requires onsite presence 2-3 days per week in Yorkshire and hands-on expertise across OpenShift, VMware and Kubernetes.

You will contribute to platform sizing, RBAC, GitOps automation and incident resolution, coordinating with enterprise governance.

Qualifications

• Deep infrastructure troubleshooting across VM workloads on OpenShift.
• Experience designing/building OpenShift platforms in enterprise or regulated environments.
• Strong VMware vSphere knowledge (ESXi, vCenter, networking, resource pools).

Responsibilities

• OpenShift virtualization and VM lifecycle management; migration from vSphere and production operations.
• Plan and map the OpenShift environment sizing and topology.
• Assess VMware estates and define OpenShift sizing and cluster topology.
• Platform engineering with GitOps operations and enterprise governance.

Role: OpenShift Engineer

Role Overview:

We are seeking several highly skilled OpenShift Engineers to support the designs and build of a secure, compliant, and resilient platform.

Key Responsibilities

• OpenShift virtualization, including VM life cycle management, migration from vSphere, and production operations.
• Contribute to the planning and mapping of the client's OpenShift environment
• Assess VMware estates and define OpenShift sizing, capacity, and cluster topology
• Platform engineering capability on OpenShift, with GitOps-led operations, operator life cycle management, and enterprise governance.
• Implement platform security, RBAC, network segmentation, and compliance controls
• Automate provisioning and configuration using Ansible, Terraform, or GitOps
• Troubleshoot issues across OpenShift, Kubernetes, VMware, networking, and storage

Essential Skills

• Deep infrastructure troubleshooting capability spanning storage, networking, and performance for VM-based workloads on OpenShift.
• Experience designing and building OpenShift platforms in enterprise or regulated environments
• Strong VMware vSphere knowledge (ESXi, vCenter, networking, resource pools)
• Solid Kubernetes or RHEL engineering background
• Automation Experience (Ansible, Terraform, GitOps)
• Ability to diagnose cross-layer issues and lead incident resolution with confidence.
