Openedge Developer / Progress Developer – Yorkshire, large Dev team, poss to X train REF 676

Work Hours: 9-5

Responsibilities:

1. Openedge Development

Key Responsibilities:

1. Analysis, Design, Specification, Development and Testing of 4GL/ABL GUI code to defined exacting standards (V9/OE10) and specified deadlines
2. Produce Design and Functional specifications as needed for technical documentation
3. Develop, customise, enhance, unit test the source code and conduct integration testing
4. Closely work with the Development, QA, Release Management and Infrastructure teams
5. Produce high quality solutions within time and budget
6. Undertake and manage various development projects and ensure that these are implemented to agreed timescales
7. Suggest areas for improvement within internal processes along with possible solutions
8. Ensure that development standards and conventions are adhered to throughout all projects

Required Skills:

1. Experience of successfully delivering development projects in a commercial environment
2. Hands on experience with Progress 4GL/ABL GUI programming language (Progress 9.1x, OpenEdge 10.2x)
3. Use of Progress OpenEdge Architect, OpenEdge Studio, Appbuilder, GUI for .NET, Web Services
4. Experience of Client Server, ADM1 & ADM2 SmartObjects (Webspeed & HTML experience would be advantageous)
5. Experience with source control management systems (knowledge of Team Foundation Server would be an advantage)
6. Good working knowledge of Windows platform
7. Exposure of E-R diagrams, data modelling and RDBMS concepts
8. Ability to manage multi-threaded projects, or co-ordinate concurrent projects
9. Good business / systems / process analysis skills
10. The ability to work under pressure and deliver to changing business demands
