Are you an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with a passion for emergency and critical care? We’re offering a fantastic opportunity for an Out of Hours Vet to join a supportive hospital team in Leicester, with a genuine focus on wellbeing, manageable caseloads, and a healthy work-life balance.

The Role

This isn’t your typical OOH position — you’ll be supported by a strong clinical team, working with realistic caseloads and excellent facilities.

  • Balanced rota: 7 nights on, 14 nights off
  • Emergency-only caseload – focus on quality over quantity
  • Sole charge responsibilities with support available
  • Opportunities to mentor and develop junior colleagues and students
  • You’ll handle a variety of medical and surgical emergencies, supported by clear clinical protocols and safe ways of working.

About You

We’re looking for a confident vet with a strong background in small animal emergency work, capable of managing critical cases independently. You’ll be compassionate, calm under pressure, and keen to deliver exceptional care to both pets and their owners.

What’s on Offer

  • Salary up to £83,000 (DOE)
  • 7-on / 14-off rota for true work-life balance
  • Funded CPD (37.5 hours per year)
  • Paid professional memberships
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (with buy/sell options)
  • Life assurance & pension scheme
  • Health and wellbeing support
  • Staff parking and great transport links

If you’re an experienced Vet looking for a rewarding OOH role where you’ll be valued, supported, and part of a collaborative, forward-thinking team — this could be the perfect opportunity.
