Job summary

EA First Ltd is recruiting an interim Purchase Ledger for a Not-for-Profit organisation in Birmingham on an initial 1-3 month contract. The role is onsite and pays £20-£23 per hour via umbrella, with duties spanning from PO to payment processing and month-end tasks.

The candidate should have hands-on Purchase Ledger experience, be highly organised and able to work independently to manage a backlog and support cash flow forecasting.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in a Purchase Ledger or Accounts Assistant position.
• End-to-end Purchase Ledger process knowledge.
• Experience with multiple accounting systems; Iplicit advantageous but not essential.
• Good Excel skills and general accounting processes.
• Experience with bank and supplier reconciliations.
• VAT understanding; partial exemption exposure desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage the purchase ledger from purchase orders to invoice processing and payment.
• Process supplier invoices, match POs and GRNs, ensure correct coding and authorisation.
• Resolve supplier queries and perform supplier statement reconciliations.
• Prepare regular supplier payment runs and weekly payment forecasts.
• Complete weekly bank reconciliations and support cash flow forecasting.
• Process petty cash, credit card transactions and monthly reconciliations.
• Ensure VAT is correctly accounted for and assist with VAT returns.
• Support month-end processes, including accruals, prepayments and journals.
• Maintain fixed asset register and perform ledger reconciliations.
• Assist Finance Manager with month-end reporting and audits.
