Job summary

Hitachi Rail Limited is seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to be the visible on-site presence at the Stoke Gifford depot. You will influence positive change, partner with operations and drive continuous improvement of Health, Safety and Environmental standards.

Reporting to the HSE Manager, you will own day-to-day HSE activities, conduct audits and lead on risk assessments, training and safety tours while ensuring alignment with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 frameworks.

Qualifications

• Experience in HSE within an engineering, manufacturing or similar complex environment.
• NEBOSH Certificate and a relevant Environmental qualification (e.g. IEMA).
• Working knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and environmental permitting.

Responsibilities

• Champion a proactive, positive HSE culture across the depot.
• Support development, implementation and maintenance of HSE systems and procedures.
• Lead on risk assessments, investigations and corrective actions.
• Deliver HSE training, briefings and toolbox talks.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits and safety tours.
• Manage environmental compliance, waste, pollution control and sustainability initiatives.
• Support internal audits and maintain legal and compliance registers.
• Act as a trusted advisor to managers, engineers and external stakeholders.
• Deputise for the HSE Manager when required.
