Position Title:Onsite Assistant Professor of Counseling


Employment Type: Full time, Faculty, Salaried


Reports To:TheAssistant Professor of Counseling will report to the Chair of the Psychology, Professional Counseling, and Neuroscience department.


Pay Range: Competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.


The Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program in the Department of Psychology, Professional Counseling, and Neuroscience of the College of Natural and Health Sciences is expanding. We are inviting applications for a full-time (9-month), tenure-track, assistant, or associate professor position for our on-campus program. The position is scheduled to begin in August of 2025. The tenure-track position includes teaching (24 credits or 6 courses per year), research, and service responsibilities. Opportunities to teach additional courses in the summer and winterim semesters may be available in both the CMHC and undergraduate psychology programs for additional compensation depending upon the needs of the Department. Successful candidates will have an earned doctorate or anticipated completion of doctorate by May 2026 in counseling or counselor education, experience teaching across the curriculum in CMHC, and experience supervising clinical mental health counseling students. The position will provide clinical supervision and advisement to students in the CMHC program, contribute service to UW-Parkside, the College of Natural and Health Sciences, the Department, the profession, and/or the community, along with, other duties as assigned.

  • Teaching courses in the graduate program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, including advising students in the graduate program.

  • Publications, presentations, and or grant activity in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

  • Service to Program and Department, College of Natural and Health Sciences, UW-Parkside, profession and/or community.

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in Counseling or Counselor Education.

    Experience teaching in person and online.

    Experience providing clinical supervision to clinical mental health counseling students.

  • Experience or willingness to coordinate clinical training programs.

  • Research and scholarly activity in clinical mental health counseling.

  • Experience working with students and staff from culturally diverse backgrounds.

  • Licensed as a Professional Counselor, training license will be considered with a requirement to be independently licensed within 2 years of hire.
