Job description

Start date: As soon as possible, full-time, permanent

Location: Bradwell Wind Farm, Essex

Candidate commute: Should be within 1 hour of the site

Role Overview

The Wind Turbine Technician is responsible for maintenance, servicing, and inspection of wind turbines and plant to ensure safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness, maximizing commercial value within compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform maintenance and servicing of wind turbines and plant, including reactive and proactive maintenance, inspections, modifications, retrofits, and main component exchanges.
  2. Diagnose faults in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  3. Work independently in a small team environment.
  4. Proactively minimize failures and maximize energy yield.
  5. Use SCADA and other systems for diagnostics, fault resetting, and maintenance planning.
  6. Be flexible with working hours, including on-call duties and travel to other sites.
  7. Maintain detailed maintenance records.
  8. Assist in site operations, projects, and non-routine tasks.
  9. Follow HSSE policies and procedures.
  10. Identify and own safety, performance, or operational improvements.
Qualifications & Experience
  • HNC, ONC, or NVQ level qualification in a mechanical or electrical discipline.
  • Experience in heavy industry electrical/mechanical maintenance, especially O&M.
  • Proficiency with complex power tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Understanding of HSSE systems for safe work practices.
  • Self-motivated with strong performance focus.
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, power electronics, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and schematics.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel and participate in on-call duties.
  • First Aid, Working at Heights, Tower Rescue certifications.
  • Full UK driving license.
Preferred but Not Essential
  • Experience with renewable energy projects or wind turbine maintenance.
  • Slinger and banksman certification.
  • Basic computer skills and data analysis.
