Job summary

Square Enix, Inc. is seeking a QA Tester to join our localisation team in the UK. You will work under the QA Coordinator, test and proofread game content, report linguistic and in-game defects, and ensure translations are accurate and contextually appropriate across RPG titles.

Proficiency in German and good English, with strong attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to work under pressure are essential. Familiarity with Square Enix games, MMORPGs, and AI tools is desirable.

Working as part of a team under the supervision of the QA Coordinator; finding, reporting and working through errors in the assigned game; following test plans and completing assigned tasks on time. Execution of other duties under the leadership of the QA management.

Responsibilities & KPI's

• Game testing and proofreading.
• Identifying and reporting linguistic errors and in-game defects.
• Accuracy: Ensuring all translated content is correct and not misleading.
• Contextual Appropriateness: Verifying that the text is appropriate for the context in which it appears.
• Correct display: Confirming that the text is displayed correctly on screen.
• General tasks in the area of quality assurance (QA).
• Checking anything linked to the game (e.g. website, companion app).

Qualifications and Skills

Essential:

• Excellent native German language skills, good English language skills and a good eye for detail.
• Good communication (written & spoken).
• Knowledge about role-playing games and console games.
• Able to work methodically and logically.
• Able to work under pressure and on time.

Desirable:

• Basic Japanese language skills.
• Knowledge of Square Enix games and MMORPGs (especially Final Fantasy XIV).
• Interest in video games - Japanese/RPG games in particular.
• Knowledge and Experience in Utilizing AI Tools.
• Previous industry experience in QA testing.
