Job description

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Key Account Manager to join the Online Sales team at Penguin Random House on a permanent basis, working with the Transworld publishing division.

The Online Sales team is a dynamic department, working with all our publishing houses to drive sales of our titles through all online retail channels, at home and internationally.

This pivotal role will be the primary online ambassador for the Transworld business. You will work alongside the publishing teams across sales, editorial, publicity and marketing to deliver the very best results for our books and authors. Transworld is a commercial powerhouse known for publishing some of the greatest fiction and non-fiction authors around the world. Transworld's bestselling authors include Prince Harry, Kate Atkinson, Dan Brown, Lee Child, Andrea Mara, Jacqueline Wilson, Ruth Jones, Sophie Kinsella, Jilly Cooper, Paula Hawkins, Bill Bryson and Chris Broad, to name a few.

As Online Key Account Manager, you will be responsible for growing physical and digital sales through online platforms including Amazon, Apple and Spotify. You will drive global revenue through strong merchandising placement, strategic use of pricing and promotions and enhanced discoverability on retailer platforms for books across all formats: print, ebook and audio.

This role will suit someone who is commercially minded, with a keen interest in publishing and online retail, and who is passionate about connecting books and consumers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work with online retailers to plan joined up merchandising, pricing and marketing activity and act as online business lead for a key retailer
  • Collaborate closely with publishing teams across sales, editorial, marketing and publicity. You will work as a cross-departmental champion to maximise discovery and sales of key titles online.
  • Plan digital and print online retail price promotions and work with marketing teams to maximise their effectiveness.
  • Analyse performance data and market insights to plan strategies around pricing and online positioning for key brands and titles.
  • Proactively build successful relationships with internal stakeholders from different teams throughout the business.
  • Attend publishing team meetings, share regular sales reporting and commercial insights to inform publishing strategy.
  • Work with international territory leads to maximise global online sales for your division's titles
  • Work closely with colleagues in the Online Sales team to continually learn and adapt new strategies to maximise sales online.
  • Liaise with the Sales Operations team to help ensure that your titles have optimal positioning on site, removing any friction to purchase.

What you'll bring

Essential criteria:

  • A positive, engaged and influential team player.
  • A proactive, inquisitive and analytical mind.
  • Strong commercial awareness, motivated by sales success.
  • Strong organisational skills and a proven ability to juggle a varied workload.
  • Excellent communication skills, with demonstrable confidence in sharing information and insights with stakeholders at all levels.

Preferred criteria:

  • Experience in using data analysis to track performance and make data-driven decisions.
  • Experience in driving sales growth through online platforms.
