Job summary

Sainsbury's is hiring colleagues to pick and prepare online order items in-store for delivery, using a handheld device to plan routes and manage substitutions when items are unavailable.

You’ll handle customer queries, process orders, support van loading, and learn product knowledge to make confident recommendations. Shifts start early (around 4am) in a fast‑paced, physical environment with training and benefits such as nightshift premium, discounts, pension and holiday entitlement.

• Willing to learn and use digital tools in-store.

Responsibilities

• Picking and selecting quality products for online orders ready for delivery or substitutions when out of stock.
• Using a handheld device to plan routes and manage time.
• Handling customer queries, processing orders and assisting with loading vans for Home Delivery Drivers.
• Providing help and recommendations to customers and being proactive in assisting.
• Build strong product knowledge to inform customers about services and promotions.
• Working flexibly across the store as required.

What you’ll be doing:

• Picking and selecting the best quality products on the shop floor that online customers have ordered ready for it to be delivered to their doorsteps - or providing brilliant substitutions where products are out of stock
• Using a handset that plans your route around the store, what you need to select and how long you have to complete each shop
• Working behind the scenes dealing with customer queries, processing orders and helping to load the vans for our Home Delivery Drivers
• Always ready to serve our customers brilliantly, supporting with any questions, and proactively offering help
• Build great knowledge about our products, services and promotions to help provide recommendations
• Working flexibly across the store as required
