Job summary

Quantum Scholars is seeking experienced SEND/SEMH Tutors to provide personalised one-to-one support for young people across Somerset. The role involves working with learners who may display challenging behaviour and require emotional regulation support within educational settings.

The successful candidate will be patient, calm and consistent, building positive relationships and adapting approaches to individual needs. A background in teaching, tutoring, mentoring or youth work is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
• Significant experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour.
• Calm, patient and empathetic approach with strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one educational and pastoral support to learners with SEND/SEMH needs.
• Support learners who display challenging or unpredictable behaviour.
• Build positive, trusting relationships and set clear boundaries and expectations.
• Use positive behaviour support strategies to encourage engagement.
• Remain calm and consistent in challenging situations and de-escalate when required.
• Monitor progress and share feedback with carers and professionals.
• Collaborate with families, schools and support teams.
