Job Description

We’re looking for a Shift Leader to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Shift Leader, you will work in a fast-paced retail environment where no day is the same.

You will take ownership of store activities by running duty shifts, co-ordinating a team to deliver a clean and full store that exceeds customer expectations.

Since the customer is at the heart of everything we do, you will constantly seek ways to improve service through on-the-job coaching and feedback.

You will have a great understanding of your store’s performance and be the specialist in delivering practical actions for its improvement by taking a hands-on approach.

With your guidance, your store will always remain a safe place to work and shop.

You will be Responsible For
  1. Coordinate the team to deliver the easiest shopping trip in the community
  2. Open/close the store and complete duty cover, ensuring decisions are right for customers, colleagues, and safety
  3. Be the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager for operational queries
  4. Support the Store Manager in coordinating seasonal, community, and charity events to create an inclusive atmosphere
  5. Ensure the store is clean, tidy, and well-presented
  6. Prioritize replenishment of products important to our customers
  7. Ensure point of sale and shelf labels reflect standards
  8. Address overcharges immediately and prevent reoccurrence
  9. Manage queues proactively to enhance customer shopping experience
  10. Coordinate colleagues’ tasks and breaks around trade patterns
  11. Be knowledgeable about store operations and lead improvements
  12. Follow health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same
  13. Communicate effectively with the team
  14. Suggest operational improvements to the Store Manager
  15. Always prioritize the customer and adapt service to meet their needs
  16. Resolve customer queries promptly with a positive attitude
  17. Recognize colleagues for great service
  18. Identify and remove obstacles to excellent service
  19. Handle colleague queries or escalate as appropriate
  20. Ensure appropriate staffing and cover shifts as needed
  21. As a Keyholder, attend alarm call outs to ensure store security
  22. Monitor and act on internal communications
  23. Balance service and replenishment duties
  24. Support absence management and return-to-work processes
  25. Build relationships with Area Manager & People Partner, escalate issues timely, and seek coaching opportunities
  26. If applicable, manage Post Office Local operations, including passing background checks for financial and criminal records
