You will be responsible for:

As a Shift Leader, my role involves:

  1. Coordinating the team to deliver the easiest shopping trip in the community.
  2. Opening/closing the store and completing duty cover, ensuring decisions are right for customers, colleagues, and safety.
  3. Being the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager for operational queries.
  4. Supporting the Store Manager in coordinating seasonal, community, and charity events to create an inclusive atmosphere.
  5. Maintaining the store's cleanliness, tidiness, and presentation.
  6. Prioritising replenishment of key products for customers.
  7. Ensuring point of sale and shelf labels reflect standards of excellence.
  8. Addressing overcharges immediately and preventing reoccurrences.
  9. Managing queues proactively to enhance customer shopping experience.
  10. Coordinating colleagues to meet daily priorities and manage breaks efficiently.
  11. Being knowledgeable about the store and leading improvements.
  12. Following health and safety routines and ensuring colleagues do the same.
  13. Communicating effectively with the team and sharing operational ideas.
  14. Putting customers first and adapting service to meet their needs.
  15. Recognising colleagues who deliver excellent service.
  16. Removing obstacles to service delivery and escalating issues when necessary.
  17. Ensuring appropriate staffing and managing short-term absences.
  18. Being a keyholder responsible for store security and alarm calls.
  19. Monitoring and acting on internal communications.
  20. Balancing service and replenishment duties.
  21. Supporting store management in absence management and conducting return-to-work interviews.
  22. Building relationships with Area Managers and People Partners to escalate issues and seek coaching.
  23. Undertaking background checks if the store has a Post Office Local.
