Job Description

We’re looking for a Shift Leader to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Shift Leader, you will work in a fast-paced retail environment where no day is the same.

You will take ownership of store activities by running duty shifts, coordinating a team to deliver a clean and fully stocked store that exceeds customer expectations.

Since the customer is at the heart of everything we do, you will constantly seek ways to improve service through on-the-job coaching and feedback.

You will understand your store's performance and be the specialist in delivering practical actions for its improvement through a hands-on approach.

With your guidance, your store will always remain a safe place to work and shop.

You will be Responsible For

• Coordinating the team to deliver an excellent shopping experience in the community
• Opening/closing the store and completing duty cover, ensuring decisions benefit customers, colleagues, and safety
• Being the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager for operational queries
• Supporting the Store Manager in coordinating seasonal, community, and charity events to foster an inclusive atmosphere
• Maintaining the store's cleanliness, tidiness, and presentation
• Prioritizing the replenishment of key products
• Ensuring point of sale and shelf labels are accurate
• Addressing overcharges immediately and preventing reoccurrence
• Managing queues proactively to enhance the shopping experience
• Coordinating colleagues' daily priorities and breaks around trade patterns
• Being knowledgeable about the store and leading practical improvements
• Following health and safety routines and ensuring colleagues do the same
• Communicating effectively with the team
• Sharing ideas to simplify operations with the Store Manager
• Always prioritizing the customer and customizing service to meet their needs
• Resolving customer queries promptly and with a positive attitude
• Recognizing colleagues who deliver excellent service
• Identifying obstacles to great service and helping to remove them
• Handling colleague queries in the absence of the Store Manager or escalating as needed
• Ensuring adequate staffing and managing short-term absences
• Being a Keyholder, attending alarm call-outs to ensure store security
• Monitoring and acting on internal communications promptly
• Balancing service and replenishment tasks effectively
• Supporting the management of colleague absence and conducting return-to-work interviews
• Building relationships with Area Managers and People Partners for support and coaching
• If applicable, managing Post Office Local operations, including passing necessary background checks
