Job summary

Spire Leicester Hospital requires a SACT nurse to administer systemic anti-cancer therapy and provide supportive care within a multidisciplinary Cancer Services team. The role focuses on caseload management as the patient’s key worker, from assessment to treatment outcomes, with emphasis on safe chemotherapy administration and expeditious triage.

Applicants must hold current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse and have an accredited SACT qualification or UKONS SACT Passport.

Qualifications

• Accredited SACT qualification or UKONS SACT Passport.
• Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Experience administering chemotherapy and intravenous therapies.
• Oncology experience managing a complex patient caseload.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, evidence-based systemic anti-cancer therapy and supportive care.
• Provide specialist advice and support to patients and families from diagnosis through treatment.
• Manage a caseload of oncology patients as key worker across their pathway.
• Undertake patient assessments, care planning and evaluation of treatment outcomes.
• Work closely with consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrate expertise in venepuncture, cannulation and CVAD management.
• Recognise and manage treatment-related complications, including extravasation, anaphylaxis and neutropenic sepsis.
• Participate in oncology telephone triage services.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and promote best practice across Cancer Services.
