Job summary

Band 2 to 3 career progression - Oncology Pharmacy Assistant Technical Services

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and committed individual to develop specialised skills within the technical team in Oncology Pharmacy.

You will join a team of oncology pharmacists, technicians, and assistants dedicated to improving pharmacy services for cancer patients and will have the chance to participate in new initiatives aimed at enhancing our service to this patient group.

You should possess excellent communication skills and be aware of the challenges involved in working within a healthcare setting. Being visible, accessible, and prioritising quality and standards are essential. Flexibility and resilience are also required to meet the demands of the role.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of planning and working independently, as well as being a good team player.

Main duties of the job

  • Assist in managing the delivery of products across trust sites, ensuring proper storage conditions are maintained.
  • Participate in daily duties of the technical support team, including preparing worksheets and ordering chemotherapy from external suppliers.
  • Ensure the correct allocation of patient-specific treatments in response to worksheets.

The work is varied and challenging, requiring working to tight schedules to meet targets and deadlines.

Progression depends on completing training programmes, validations, and competencies, along with at least one year of experience in the role.

You will be based at Tunbridge Wells Hospital within the pharmacy department.

This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week.
