Job summary

Hillingdon Council is seeking an experienced HR Onboarding and Compliance Officer to join the HR team in Hillingdon. You will manage onboarding from offer to start date and ensure compliance with Right to Work, DBS checks, and employment legislation.

You will prepare offers and contracts, check references, support visa applications, maintain confidential records, and provide updates to managers and candidates throughout the process.

Qualifications

• Experience in HR onboarding, recruitment or HR operations.
• Experience with Right to Work and DBS checks.
• Ability to handle confidential information and GDPR compliance.
• Experience with HR/recruitment ATS.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage onboarding for new starters from offer through to commencement.
• Complete and monitor Right to Work checks, including follow-up checks.
• Manage DBS checks and ensure appropriate clearance.
• Prepare and issue employment offers and contracts on time.
• Request and check references in line with safer recruitment requirements.
• Support visa and sponsorship applications, including renewals.
• Respond to HR, onboarding, DBS and Right to Work queries.
• Maintain confidential employee records and compliance documents.
• Provide regular updates to hiring managers and candidates during onboarding.
• Carry out first-day checks and escalate discrepancies as needed.
• Support HR Operations and Payroll during busy periods.
• Keep up to date with changes to HR legislation and compliance requirements.
• Support continuous improvement of HR processes and procedures.
