Are you passionate about IT support and delivering outstanding customer service? We’re looking for a proactive and motivated On-site Support Technician based at Durham University to join our team, providing on-site technical support to customers and working closely with our Service Desk and technical teams.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide hands-on IT support across hardware, software, networks, and user access issues.
  • Respond to and resolve service tickets via phone, email, and portal.
  • Configure, deploy, and manage IT assets including laptops, desktops, mobile devices, printers, and phones.
  • Support staff onboarding and offboarding, ensuring IT equipment and access are provisioned correctly.
  • Troubleshoot using diagnostic tools and escalate complex issues when required.
  • Assist with patching, updates, endpoint security, and small IT projects.
  • Maintain IT asset registers and ensure compliance with policies and security standards.

What we’re looking for:

  • Previous experience in a 2nd line IT support or similar technical role.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS and Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive).
  • Experience supporting user devices, printers, and mobile phones.
  • Understanding of Active Directory and basic user/group admin.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Full UK driving licence (site visits required).

Desirable:

  • Experience using ticketing systems such as Jira.
  • Awareness of IT security principles and endpoint protection tools.
