Job summary

Releaf Dispensary Ltd in Leigh, Greater Manchester is seeking an on-site prescribing pharmacist to provide safe, compliant, clinically-led dispensing for patients. This role focuses on controlled drugs and adherence to regulatory standards within a patient-first framework.

You will screen and dispense prescriptions, independently prescribe when appropriate, manage CDs, and ensure GPPhC/CQC compliance while supporting pharmacy operations and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Registered Pharmacist with a valid GPhC PIN.
• Independent Prescriber (IP) qualification on GPhC register.
• Willingness and ability to work on-site at Leigh, Greater Manchester.

Responsibilities

• Clinically screen, verify and dispense prescriptions including controlled drugs.
• Independently prescribe within scope as part of the clinical team.
• Manage safe storage and record-keeping of CDs in line with regulations.
• Maintain compliance with GPhC standards, CQC regulation and relevant legislation.
• Provide clinical advice on medication, dosage, interactions and side effects.
• Oversee day-to-day pharmacy operations, stock control and CD registers on site.
• Liaise with prescribers and clinical team on patient queries or amendments.
• Support audits, inspections and continuous improvement of processes.

The Role

The On‑Site Prescribing Pharmacist works from our pharmacy in Leigh, Greater Manchester, providing safe, compliant, and clinically‑led prescribing and dispensing for Releaf patients. This role exists to ensure every prescription — particularly controlled drugs — is handled to the highest clinical and regulatory standard, in line with Releaf’s conservative, patient‑first approach to care.

What you’ll be doing:

• Clinically screening, verifying, and dispensing prescriptions issued by Releaf’s specialist prescribers, ensuring accuracy and appropriateness for each patient
• Independently prescribing within scope, where clinically appropriate, as part of the wider clinical team
• Managing the safe storage, handling, and record‑keeping of Controlled Drugs (CDs) in line with legal and regulatory requirements
• Maintaining full compliance with GPhC standards, CQC regulation, and all relevant controlled drugs legislation
• Providing clinical advice and support to patients regarding their medication, dosage, and any potential interactions or side effects
• Working on‑site at the Leigh pharmacy, maintaining day‑to‑day oversight of pharmacy operations, stock control, and CD registers
• Liaising with prescribers and the wider clinical team on patient queries, clinical concerns, or prescription amendments
• Supporting audits, inspections, and continuous improvement of pharmacy processes and patient safety standards

What we’re looking for (essential):

• Registered Pharmacist with a valid GPhC pin, including authorisation to handle Controlled Drugs (CD) — mandatory
• Independent Prescriber (IP) qualification, annotated on the GPhC register — mandatory
• Willingness and ability to work on‑site at the Leigh, Greater Manchester pharmacy
