Job summary

Tarmac is seeking a hands-on Materials Testing Technician to join the Clitheroe Asphalt Plant team. You’ll sample and test aggregates and asphalt, record results and help maintain product quality across our sites.

The role blends lab work with on-site testing, travelling to nearby quarries and plants as required. Training is provided, and a strong emphasis is placed on safety and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Laboratory experience in quality control or construction materials preferred.
• Hands-on, practical candidate with attention to detail.
• Willing to train candidates showing the right behaviours.

Responsibilities

• Sampling and testing aggregates and asphalt materials daily.
• Recording, analysing and reporting test results.
• Monitoring product quality for internal and external customers.
• Testing with specialist laboratory equipment (ovens, furnaces, sieves, weighing tools).
• Travel to other local sites to undertake sampling and testing.
• Identify and escalate any quality concerns.
• Work safely and follow Health and Safety procedures.
