Job summary

Sphere Solutions is seeking an experienced Clerk of Works for a construction project in Lakenheath, Suffolk. You will monitor on-site works, inspect materials and workmanship, and ensure compliance with drawings, specifications and regulations.

You will maintain accurate records, liaise with contractors and consultants, attend site meetings, and support handover with a focus on health, safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Clerk of Works or similar construction role.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods and quality standards.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspections and reporting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good IT and report-writing skills.
• A relevant construction qualification or professional accreditation is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Monitor construction works on site and ensure they meet the required quality standards.
• Inspect materials, workmanship and completed works.
• Identify defects, non-conformances and potential quality issues, ensuring these are addressed promptly.
• Check that works are carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications, method statements and relevant regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, progress, defects and corrective actions.
• Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, consultants and the wider project team.
• Attend site meetings and provide clear reports on quality and progress.
• Monitor testing, commissioning and snagging activities.
• Assist with the handover process and ensure outstanding works are completed to the required standard.
• Promote a strong culture of health, safety and quality throughout the project.
