Job summary

Knightwood Associates, a well established construction consultancy, is seeking an experienced Clerk of Works to oversee site inspections across projects in the Suffolk and Norfolk area. The role includes producing detailed reports, checking works against contractual documents, and ensuring compliance with Building Regulations.

Applicants should have prior Clerk of Works or Construction Inspector experience, membership of ICWCI or CIOB, and strong knowledge of construction processes.

Qualifications

• Experience as Clerk of Works or Construction Inspector.
• Membership of ICWCI or CIOB.
• Strong knowledge of building construction processes.
• Familiar with JCT and NEC contracts.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular site inspections and monitor construction progress.
• Produce clear, detailed and timely professional reports.
• Check works against drawings, Employers' Requirements, warranties and Building Regulations.
• Identify defects, discrepancies and non-compliance.
• Maintain defect trackers and follow up with site teams.
• Manage snagging, de-snagging and final inspections.
• Keep accurate project records per QA procedures.

Job description

A well established construction consultancy looking to appoint an experienced Clerk of Works.

This is a site/home based role involving regular inspections across a range of construction projects in the Suffolk and Norfolk area.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Undertaking regular site inspections and monitoring construction progress
• Producing clear, detailed and timely professional reports
• Checking works against contractual drawings, Employers' Requirements, warranty provider standards and Building Regulations
• Identifying defects, discrepancies and areas of non compliance
• Taking ownership of defect trackers and proactively following up with site teams
• Managing snagging, de-snagging and end of defects liability period inspections
• Maintaining accurate project records in line with the company's filing and quality assurance procedures

Experience needed:

• Previous experience working as a Clerk of Works or Construction Inspector
• Membership of the ICWCI or CIOB
• Strong knowledge of building construction processes
• Good working knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts
• Experience using Field View or PlanRadar
• The ability to produce high quality technical reports
• Strong communication, organisation and time management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook.
• A full UK driving licence
