Job summary

Forth Ports is seeking an Assistant Civil Engineer for the Port of Tilbury. You will work on quayside, pavement, drainage and utilities projects in a live, 24/7 port setting. You will own projects from inception to completion with support from an engineering leadership team.

Essentially, you should have a Civil Engineering degree, 2–3 years UK site experience, AutoCAD proficiency, and a full UK driving licence. Regular site presence is required and the role is on-site at Tilbury.

Qualifications

• BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering (or closely related)
• 2–3 years UK construction/civil engineering on-site experience
• AutoCAD proficiency to produce/modify drawings
• Full UK driving licence; site travel required

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of civil engineering projects from feasibility through practical completion
• Manage project programmes and budgets (£50k–£500k)
• Coordinate with operational teams to schedule works around 24/7 port activities
• Produce/update technical drawings using AutoCAD
• Develop scopes of works and review contractor designs/method statements
• Apply engineering principles to solve problems in a live port environment
• Act as Client representative under CDM 2015 regulations
• Ensure contractors comply with port safety requirements and permit-to-work systems
