Job summary

Excelcare Hunters Down Care Home in Huntingdon is seeking an experienced Cook to join our compassionate team and deliver outstanding meal experiences for residents.

You will prepare nutritious meals using fresh ingredients, align meal plans with residents’ support plans, and ensure kitchen safety and quality standards are maintained. The role involves 40 hours per week, with shifts 7am to 5pm, Monday to Sunday (4 days).

Qualifications

• Experience cooking for large numbers.
• At least 1 year in a catering environment.
• 12 months Cook or Chef experience.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for meaningful interactions.

Responsibilities

• As the Cook, you will prepare and cook nutritious meals using fresh ingredients.
• Work with healthcare professionals to ensure meal plans and dietary requirements fit individual support plans and risk assessments.
• Maintain quality assurance systems within the kitchen.
• Have a thorough understanding of Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, COSHH, and cross-contamination guidelines.
• Engage residents in meaningful activities and promote independence, dignity and respect.
