Job summary

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a permanent General Building Engineer to join Amey on the Ministry of Justice account at HMP Cardiff. This on-site role involves ensuring planned and reactive maintenance across the site, with a 39-hour week and weekend rotation.

You will work alongside other engineers across the site, supporting critical facilities and safety systems within the prison environment.

Qualifications

• Ideally qualified in multiple maintenance areas as outlined above.
• Experience in custodial environments and basic Health & Safety knowledge is desirable.
• Willingness to develop to required standards is essential.

Responsibilities

• Ensure availability of critical parts for statutory tasks in CAFM system.
• Perform general and semi-skilled maintenance including CCTV and alarms.
• Conduct monthly checks of fire extinguishers, hydrants and hoses.
• Complete quarterly RCD testing and inspect Misting Units.
• Maintain fire doors and perform flushing and water temperature tests.
• Undertake monthly and annual emergency lighting checks.
• Check and test smoke vents as required.
• Carry out other duties as required.
