The team
UTV leads news in Northern Ireland, and our North West team is key to our success. Our journalist based at Ebrington Square was a finalist for Reporter of the Year at the RTS Awards. We attract large audiences with top-quality output and focus on nurturing colleagues.
The role
We seek a patch reporter for our North West operation, to build community contacts, deliver main stories, and uncover exclusive content. You will work across multiple platforms, writing online articles and adding value to our output.
You must generate innovative ideas, handle complex stories, and be willing to work out-of-hours when needed. The ideal candidate is passionate about the local area, understands what matters, and can create engaging content. Living in the patch is essential.
Self-shooting and editing skills are required, along with the ability to work under pressure and perform confidently live. Knowledge of media law, compliance, and safety is vital. You should be able to identify good contributors and conduct effective interviews. This role demands teamwork, proactivity, and commitment.
Applicants should send a CV, a written statement of their suitability, and a showreel. An AccessNI check is required. On-screen journalists must have their own transport, with expenses covered by ITV. The role involves long, unsociable hours and physical demands, including carrying equipment. A health check is required. Roster includes weekends, early, and late shifts.
