Salary Range: £1,413 - £5,652 per annum, plus additional incident call out payments
Hours per week: Minimum of 31 on-call hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent
An on-call firefighter is a paid employee of the fire and rescue service who is ‘on call’ to respond to emergencies and engage with their community. They maintain everyday lives and jobs until alerted, then become professional firefighters.
This role is demanding but rewarding, involving close teamwork during emergencies and participation in community events. Responsibilities include fighting fires, community fire safety, flooding response, co-responding, road accidents, chemical spills, and animal rescues.
Previous Experience: No prior experience required; comprehensive training is provided. Physical fitness is crucial, and candidates must be able to reach the fire station quickly after being alerted. Applicants must live or work within 4 minutes of the fire station; otherwise, their application will be rejected.
