£1,413 - £5,652 per annum, plus additional incident call out payments

An on-call firefighter is a paid employee of the fire and rescue service who responds to emergencies and engages with the community. They maintain their everyday lives and jobs until their pager sounds, at which point they become professional firefighters.
Although called ‘part-time’, on-call firefighters are trained and experienced, playing a vital role in saving lives and protecting communities. They receive thorough training on emergency response and personal skills.
On-call firefighters come from diverse backgrounds, including full-time or part-time employment, self-employment, studying, or unemployment. They dedicate their time to supporting the fire and rescue service and safeguarding their communities.
This role is demanding but rewarding, fostering close teamwork essential during emergencies and community events.
Responsibilities include fighting fires, community fire safety, flood response, co-responding, road accidents, chemical spills, and animal rescues.
No prior experience is required as comprehensive training is provided. Key qualities include enthusiasm, physical fitness, and the ability to reach the fire station quickly after alert.
Applicants must live or work within 4 minutes of the Fire Station. Applications from outside this area will be automatically rejected.
Vetting includes a standard DBS check.
