Join a dedicated team at a small animal practice nestled in the stunning North Pennines. This role offers a supportive environment with tailored CPD packages and a 4-day workweek. Enjoy the beauty of rural life while being just a short drive from city amenities. With a focus on in-house diagnostics and a collaborative approach, this position is ideal for those passionate about animal care and teamwork. Experience the satisfaction of providing quality veterinary services in a picturesque setting, where your contributions are valued and supported.
Small independent practice needs a Small Animal Vet to join our team in the rural beauty of the North Pennines. Amazing countryside with our surgeries in the three northern counties of Cumbria, Durham & Northumberland.
We are a mixed, mainly small animal practice requiring a full-time small animal-only vet as our business moves forward. Ideally, this position would suit a candidate with a few years of experience.
The team is led by two experienced vets, Karl and Rachel, who are available for a chat about this position. We are a 3-centre practice, all of which are RCVS accredited SA, LA & EQ practice, with our main surgery in Alston, Cumbria, and branches at Stanhope and Allendale.
We live and work here in the rural North Pennines, which may not have the city lifestyles and facilities but is only 45-50 mins away from Newcastle or Carlisle. If you love the countryside and dislike traffic lights, then we have the perfect place for you. Our practice is a 5-vet team, and we all share the workload equally.
We diagnose and treat the majority of our cases in-house and are supported by referral options nearby if needed. CPD packages can be tailored to individual interests.
Support is the biggest requirement we have found from vets who have started with us in recent years. We all need support at different levels, shapes, and sizes. There is no one-size-fits-all template for support. We encourage and work with the GDP programme and support all our staff as much as possible. Monthly vet clinical meetings allow us to discuss cases, share ideas, and plan steps forward. Our experienced vets run 15-minute appointments.
We do have all the usual small animal equipment:
