A leading engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced OHL Engineer for a 1-year contract. The role involves designing overhead line systems and requires a degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Successful candidates will have experience with high voltage systems and tools like AutoCAD and PLS-CADD. Flexible work locations across the UK are available. OHL Engineer

1-year contract

Looking for candidates nationally – Flexible across 20 different locations

Day Rate – Ddiscussed upon application (Umbrella)

An OHL (Overhead Line Engineer) Engineer is required to join a design consultancy working on a 1-year contract in Cornwall on either Northern Power Grid or Greater Grid Projects. As an OHL Engineer, you will be responsible for designing OHL systems, including the selection of structures, conductors, and insulators, developing detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and design documentation using AutoCAD and PLS-CADD, collaborating with stakeholders to integrate design requirements into project plans, conducting site surveys and assessments, performing technical calculations and analysis, ensuring designs are compliant, reviewing and approving design modifications, providing support during construction and quality checking throughout construction.

The successful candidate will be degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering (or equivalent), have experience in overhead line engineering up to 400k and have experience on upgrading work projects such as utilisation of High Temperature Low Sag conductors. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of conducting galloping studies, EMF and Field Effects Calculation, Wake effect, AC Interference for Gas pipelines, and have experience using PLS-CADD, POLE and/or TOWER.
