Job Description Summary

Join GE Vernova working at Dogger Bank Wind farm team as an Electrical Commissioning Authorised Technician. We are seeking enthusiastic individuals who ideally want to progress to leading teams who are installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting advanced electrical systems on the latest range of offshore wind turbines, focusing on both Low Voltage (LV) and High Voltage (HV).

This role offers a clear trajectory for professional growth, with an expectation for the successful candidates to elevate to a Lead Authorised Technician role showcasing full proficiency in commissioning LV and HV equipment. We will enable this by offering continuous learning and skill enhancement in LV and HV systems and leadership skills.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Commissioning & Testing:
    1. Execute installation, routine maintenance, and repairs on LV and HV electrical systems, including converters, transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and associated components.
    2. Accurately read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
    3. Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations and industry standards throughout all installation and maintenance operations.
    4. Support senior engineers in the commissioning of electrical systems and equipment.
    5. Conduct thorough pre-commissioning tests and inspections to ensure systems are service-ready.
    6. Provide comprehensive documentation of all commissioning activities, delivering detailed reports to the engineering team.
  2. Troubleshooting:
    1. Expertly diagnose and resolve electrical issues, including faults in LV and HV equipment.
    2. Utilize advanced testing equipment to identify and efficiently rectify electrical problems.
    3. Collaborate with engineering teams to tackle complex technical challenges.
  3. Health & Safety:
    1. Uphold all health and safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment.
    2. Conduct risk assessments and implement effective control measures for electrical tasks.
    3. Supervise and mentor Competent technicians to ensure safe systems of work and develop their skills.
    4. Engage in safety training sessions and actively contribute to fostering a culture of safety within the team.
Qualifications: Required
  1. Education: Electrical or Wind technician apprenticeship, diploma, or degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  2. Experience: Experience with LV and HV electrical systems.
Qualifications Desired
  1. Experience working on wind farms or in offshore industries or as an authorised person (AP) in an MV or HV industry.
  2. Demonstrated expertise in high-voltage switching operations, with hands-on experience in 11 kV and 33 kV systems.
  3. Deep understanding of electrical principles and systems.
  4. Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics.
  5. Extensive hands-on experience with electrical testing and diagnostic tools.
  6. Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  7. Ability to lead teams.
  8. Relevant electrical certifications are preferred (e.g., Certified Electrical Technician, High Voltage Safety Certification).
