Job summary

SBM Offshore N.V. invites applications for a Piping Material Engineer to support piping material engineering activities across projects, including selection, specification, procurement, and documentation of piping materials.

You will work under Senior Material Engineers to ensure compliance with project specs, codes, and company standards for safe, reliable, and cost-effective piping systems. Responsibilities include preparing material specs and data sheets, assisting in material selections,

Qualifications

• 0 to 5 years material engineering experience in Oil & Gas Industry Preferably Offshore (FPSO or Fixed Platforms).
• Basic knowledge of piping materials, international piping codes, and material standards.
• Familiarity with Excel and exposure to Aveva Engineering or ERM is an advantage.
• Experience as a Package Engineer for Piping Packages and managing other discipline Packages interfaces.
• Team spirit, good communication skills, strong analytical skills, curious and motivated to propose and/or explore new ideas.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing piping material specifications, material requisitions, and data sheets per project requirements and standards (ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, ASTM, API, BS, MSS-SP, NACE).
• Support selection of piping materials (pipes, fittings, flanges, valves, and specialties) under supervision.
• Perform piping material calculations per design codes and project specs.
• Plan and complete activities within agreed time frame and ensure system interfaces.
• Prepare, review, and develop piping and valve material specifications, datasheets, MTOs, and bulk MTOs.
