Job Description
  • Job Title: Offshore Chemist
  • Job Location: Offshore from Aberdeen
  • Hours: Average 1 week a month offshore

We are currently seeking an Offshore Chemist to join the team in Aberdeen. As an Offshore Chemist, you will be responsible for performing sampling and analysis according to recognized international methods and documented procedures, and preparing reports. You will deliver consistently high standards of analytical performance and ensure the smooth and continued operation of the platform laboratory.

Key Accountabilities
  • Demonstrate compliance with all test methods, procedures, and quality systems essential for best practices.
  • Represent SGS on client sites, adhering to all their test methods, procedures, and QHSE requirements.
  • Liaise with line managers/onshore support if issues with equipment, methods, or samples occur, and initiate corrective actions to ensure service continuity.
  • Identify and implement improvements to laboratory operations to maximize equipment availability, maintain and improve technical standards, and ensure profitability.
  • Ensure an adequate stock of consumables to maintain continuous productivity.
  • Ensure testing equipment is calibrated, safe, and suitable for use.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly routine sampling, analysis, and reporting as per client procedures.
Qualifications
How to be a successful candidate

Essential

  • Experience in offshore oil industry-related analysis, encompassing a broad spectrum of methods to meet process and client demands.
  • Valid Medical/BOSIET/MIST certifications.
  • HNC level in chemistry or related science-based subject, or equivalent.
  • Offshore medical certificate.
  • Offshore survival certificate.
  • MIST certificate.

Desirable

  • Experience in laboratory techniques and documentation preparation.
  • Knowledge of process management and chemical optimization.
  • SBT01 certification.
  • Experience with Oil in Water analysis.
  • H2S Sampling experience.
