Midlothian Council seeks an Office Support Assistant for Lawfield Primary School, focusing on clerical tasks and supporting children. Candidates must demonstrate literacy, numeracy, and relevant software skills. The position is permanent, offers 19 hours weekly, and requires PVG membership for regulated work with children.
Evidence of competency in literacy and numeracy skills such as a minimum of three standard grades level 3 passes or above to include Mathematics and English or equivalent is essential. (SVQ 2 or equivalent is an acceptable alternative). Some practical experience or demonstration of competency in the use of word processing and standard PC software packages is also essential.
Demonstrable competency in keyboard and clerical skills are also required; SVQ 2 or equivalent is an acceptable alternative.
Experience in a similar office environment, with a working knowledge of modern office equipment, is desirable.

Note: Successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale, as per Midlothian Council policy.
Based on 19 hours over 39 weeks, the minimum actual salary is £11,781.22 per annum.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children.
Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Children. You will need to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check before starting employment with Midlothian Council; the cost will be covered by you.
