Midlothian Council seeks an Office Support Assistant for Lawfield Primary School. The role involves essential literacy, numeracy, and clerical skills to support school operations. Successful candidates must possess relevant qualifications and, due to child protection regulations, must have or be willing to acquire PVG Scheme membership.

Salary: £25,885 - £26,787 per year pro rata

Hours: 19 hours per week
Evidence of competency in literacy and numeracy skills such as a minimum of three standard grades level 3 passes or above to include Mathematics and English or equivalent is essential. (SVQ 2 or equivalent is an acceptable alternative). Some practical experience or demonstration of competency in the use of word processing and standard PC software packages is also essential.
Demonstrable competency in keyboard and clerical skills are also required; SVQ 2 or equivalent is an acceptable alternative.
Experience in a similar office environment, with a working knowledge of modern office equipment is desirable.

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.
Based on 19 hours over 39 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £11,781.22 per annum.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children.
Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Children. You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment with Midlothian Council, the cost of which will be met by you.
