The reception function is crucial for the firm's impression and client experience, as receptionists are ambassadors who set the tone for interactions.

Key tasks and duties include:

  • Managing the post desk and handling mail and faxes efficiently.
  • Receiving and distributing post, deliveries, and payments.
  • Archiving files and maintaining related databases.
  • Performing some physical lifting.
  • Photocopying large volumes for court bundles under deadlines.
  • Managing stationery stock.
  • Running errands in the town center.
  • Potentially undertaking basic IT tasks and typing attendance notes.
  • Handling incoming calls, answering queries, and transferring calls appropriately.
  • Taking and relaying messages accurately.
  • Promoting the firm through excellent customer care.
  • Welcoming clients and managing waiting areas.
  • Collecting identification documents from clients for compliance purposes.
  • Maintaining tidiness in reception and meeting rooms.
  • Providing refreshments upon request.
  • Demonstrating a cooperative, positive, and team-oriented attitude.

Qualifications and skills required:

  • GCSEs in Maths and English (A*-C) or (9-4) or a Law degree.
