Job summary

The University of Oxford’s Oxford Clinical Trials Research Unit (OCTRU) Statistics Team invites applications for a Medical Statistician (Grade 6) to contribute to the design and analysis of clinical trials within the NDORMS environment.

You will prepare statistical analysis plans (SAPs), develop statistical programs, advise on data collection, CRFs, data validation and cleaning, and perform interim and final analyses in collaboration with the trial team.

Qualifications

• MSc in Medical Statistics or equivalent.
• Experience with clinical trial statistics and SAPs is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and set-up of clinical trials within a multidisciplinary team.
• Provide written statistical input into protocols and ethics submissions.
• Prepare statistical analysis plans (SAPs) and develop statistical programs for data analysis.
• Generate, validate and monitor randomisation schedules; perform interim and final analyses.

In this role, you will assist in the design and set-up of clinical trials within a multidisciplinary team including (but not limited to) the Chief Investigator and Trial Manager as well as provide written statistical input into protocols and ethics committee submissions. You will also provide advice on data collection, CRF development, data validation and data cleaning and data management. You will prepare statistical analysis plans (SAP) and produce statistical programs for analysis of study data, including generating, validating and monitoring randomisation schedules and performing interim and final analyses. The post is located at the Botnar Institute for Musculoskeletal Sciences, Oxford.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Medical Statistician (Grade 6) to join the Oxford Clinical Trials Research Unit (OCTRU) Statistics Team. OCTRU is one of the largest academic clinical trials units in the UK. (www.octru.ox.ac.uk). It undertakes trials of all phases across oncology, surgery, experimental medicine, orthopaedics and rheumatology. The Statistics Team led by Professor Jonathan Cook is looking for a recent post-graduate statistician to join an expanding statistical team. New team members will undergo a training programme in clinical trial statistics and related processes during their first year.

The post is based within the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS), University of Oxford. This position is available now but would be suitable for a current MSc Student in Medical Statistics with a view to starting in the summer or autumn of 2027. In the latter instance there may be an opportunity to undertake a summer project with the team.
