Ocean Import Clerk

We are currently seeking an Ocean Import Clerk for our client, an independent Freight Forwarding company based in Suffolk, providing worldwide shipping services.

Responsibilities:

1. Handle end-to-end ocean import operations, including processing shipping documentation, customs clearance, and coordinating with overseas agents, suppliers, and customers.
2. Arrange shipments, book cargo space with carriers, and track the movement of goods to ensure timely delivery.
3. Plan loads and send load lists to agents.
4. Receive pre-alerts from overseas agents.
5. Advise customers on cargo arrivals into the UK.
6. Check manifests upon receipt.
7. Liaise with clients, providing updates on shipment status and resolving issues or delays.
8. Create and maintain records and documentation related to import activities accurately.

Requirements:

• Operational knowledge of import procedures and customs regulations.
• Excellent customer service skills and commercial awareness.
• Experience in ocean import operations within a Freight Forwarding or Shipping company.
• Proficiency in freight management software and MS Office.
