Job description

Position: Ocean Freight Operator
Location: LichfieldHours: Monday - Friday 09:00-17:00 or 08:00-16:00
Salary: 25,000 - 35,000 (DOE)

We are recruiting for an Ocean Freight Export Operator to join our client's expanding team. The ideal candidate will specialise in all things ocean freight, from start to finish.

Your key responsibilities as Ocean Freight Operator:

  • Handling FCL and LCL exports from origin, on an end-to-end basis
  • Booking jobs on the in-house system
  • Making bookings with shipping lines & submitting provisional DGN's
  • Providing freight rates, quotes and pricing solutions for customers
  • Liaising with overseas agents, shipping lines and various carriers
  • Tracking and updating shipment statuses in the company's system and providing regular updates to clients
  • Load planning
  • Coordinating tasks on the shipments to meet all customer SOP requirements: booking approvals, processing pre-alerts, governmental filings, executing delivery, ensuring proper invoicing, etc.
  • Ensuring compliance with export regulations and trade compliance laws
  • Liaising with customers and sales team to ensure we maximise efficiency
  • Developing good working relationships with shipping lines, overseas agents, hauliers and our other branches
  • File closing

Requirements:

  • End to end Ocean Freight Operations knowledge with a UK-Based Freight Forwarder
  • Working knowledge of the International freight forwarding industry.
  • Customs knowledge desirable
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, suppliers and your wider team
  • Being commercially minded would be an advantage
  • A proactive and professional persona
