We’re currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established freight forwarding business seeking a motivated Ocean Freight Coordinator to join their team based in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in procurement and logistics, with structured development and hands-on experience from day one.
What you’ll be doing:
Supporting the procurement team in sourcing competitive ocean freight rates from global carriers and partners
Preparing and issuing freight quotations within 24 hours of receiving an enquiry
Assisting with rate comparisons, contract management, and updating internal procurement systems
Helping manage tenders and spot rate requests for both FCL and LCL shipments
Liaising with internal teams to ensure smooth coordination and handover of procurement information
Monitoring carrier performance and assisting with any rate-related issues
Maintaining accurate tariff and inland haulage data
Staying informed on market trends in ocean freight and global logistics
What we’re looking for:
Strong numerical and analytical ability
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general IT systems
Highly organised, detail-focused, and able to prioritise under pressure
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn in a collaborative team environment
Previous exposure to logistics or supply chain (academic or work experience) is a bonus, but not essential
