Export Clerk

Rainham, East London | Hybrid | £29,000 - £38,000 DOE

Hybrid working is available - 3 days from home, 2 days in the office (subject to business needs).

Our client, a leading logistics and supply chain solutions provider, is currently seeking an experienced Ocean Export Clerk with a background in ocean freight forwarding to join their team based in Rainham, East London.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a business committed to delivering high-quality service, innovation, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing ocean export shipments and delivering excellent customer service.

Ocean Export Clerk Key Responsibilities include:

Operational:

1. Manage export container movements and coordinate shipments efficiently
2. Liaise with international offices to ensure timely and accurate movement of consignments
3. Oversee Customs clearance and arrange haulage as required
4. Act as the first point of contact for clients, maintaining excellent service standards
5. Accurately manage all shipment documentation and meet strict deadlines

Administrative:

1. Maintain and update control sheets for full visibility and auditing
2. Ensure all systems hold accurate, real-time information

Commercial:

1. Provide competitive freight quotations and promote additional services
2. Monitor job-file profitability and manage cost/revenue alignment
3. Process and confirm invoicing on all relevant shipments

What We're Looking For

1. Previous experience in Ocean Freight Forwarding or Logistics
2. Strong administrative and organisational skills
3. Excellent customer service and communication abilities
4. Flexible, proactive approach with high attention to detail
5. Ability to work well under pressure and manage competing priorities
6. Competency in Microsoft Office and logistics systems
