Job description

This post offers an opportunity for a Band 4 Occupational Therapy Assistant to work in the Medium Secure Forensic Service. The role involves being part of the Recovery-focused Occupational Therapy Team, conducting specialist group and individual work within the inpatient unit across acute, rehab, and specialist wards.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Supporting the OT service in providing specialist OT treatment in inpatient and community settings
  2. Implementing OT treatment plans through specialist individual and group programmes
  3. Contributing to the development of the forensic mental health occupational therapy service
  4. Collaborating with the MDT team in assessment and treatment of service users

Under supervision of an Occupational Therapist, to implement agreed occupational therapy treatment plans by carrying out practical activities with service users, both individually and in groups. The role involves:

  1. Collaborating with senior OT staff to review and modify treatment programmes
  2. Assisting in assessment and treatment of service users in a specialist mental health setting
  3. Working and liaising appropriately with the multidisciplinary team, including attending service user-related meetings
  4. Maintaining records and reporting observations of service users’ progress
  5. Ensuring all clinical contact includes risk assessment and management
  6. Participating in the development of evidence-based therapeutic interventions
  7. Working flexibly in treatment delivery
  8. Contributing to the Recovery College programme of activities
