Are you passionate about making a difference in young people’s lives? We’re looking for a motivated and compassionate Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our multidisciplinary team at Ivetsey Bank Hospital, a Tier 4 CAMHS service providing specialist inpatient care for young people aged 12-17 with complex mental health needs.
About the Role
As our Occupational Therapy Assistant, you’ll work closely with the Occupational Therapists and wider therapy and nursing teams to support the development and delivery of therapeutic interventions and groups for our young people. You’ll play a vital role in helping them develop daily living skills, improve their confidence, and engage in meaningful occupations during their recovery.
What you'll be working:
This is a full-time role – 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
What you'll be doing:
- Support the planning and delivery of individual and group-based therapeutic activities
- Encourage participation in self-care, leisure, education, and vocational tasks
- Assist in assessing functional skills and documenting progress
- Support the maintenance of therapy equipment and resources
- Work collaboratively with young people, families, and the wider MDT
- Keep people safe from any harm and protect their human rights.
What you'll have:
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a mental health or education setting
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to drive company vehicles is essential
- A caring, empathetic approach with strong communication skills
- Ability to work flexibly and effectively as part of a team
- Basic understanding of Occupational Therapy or willingness to learn
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Health and Social Care is desirable but not essential
- Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS
