Cygnet Kidsgrove (Kidsgrove, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire):

Cygnet Hospital Kidsgrove is a new hospital for women in Staffordshire, opening in May 2025. It will have two wards: a 20-bed Acute service for women and an 11-bed Highly Specialist Personality Disorder Rehabilitation service.

Crocus Ward offers a 20-bed emergency acute inpatient service providing a safe environment for women experiencing an acute mental health episode requiring emergency admission. The ward's ethos is to assess and treat women in the least restrictive environment, with a focus on stabilisation, managing mental health, reinforcing daily living skills, and preparing for independent living.

Our team collaborates closely with individuals, families, and referrers to ensure a seamless pathway from referral to discharge, with a recovery-focused approach supported by a multidisciplinary team to reduce hospital stay lengths.

Burleigh Ward is an 11-bed highly specialised service for women with personality disorders and complex needs, providing assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation in a therapeutic setting tailored to individual security needs. The goal is to equip women with skills and confidence for community reintegration, with a multidisciplinary approach including occupational therapy, social work, and vocational training.

This role offers a unique chance to support Occupational Therapy services at Cygnet Kidsgrove, with clinical supervision provided by the onsite Occupational Therapist.

Occupational Therapy Directorate

Led by our occupational therapy directors, we support over 185 Occupational Therapists, fostering a collaborative environment with opportunities for involvement in service development and specialist interest groups. Each service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to develop evidence-based practice and pathways.
