Job SummaryThere is an exciting opportunity available for an
Occupational Therapy Assistant to join the 'family' on Northgate and Southgate wards at Wedgwood House in supporting people through their mental health journey.

We are looking for someone with an interest and background in mental health care to work with existing staff to help drive our standards upwards. Whilst the primary focus is on those who have experience of working in adult inpatient mental health environments, we would also welcome applications from those who may have less experience in this specific field but feel that their existing knowledge and skills can bring something special to our staff teams.
Main duties of the jobAre you an ace at activities and occupational support, excellent at promoting engagement and superb at supporting people with mental health needs? If so, we want you on Northgate and Southgate wards. As a unit, we pride ourselves on working together to deliver high-quality care and to support each other through any challenging times. We recognise that working with the same methods doesn't work forever; and we will continue to challenge the way we do things to create the best services we can, centred on the people who use them. We are focused on Quality Improvement led care delivery and are looking for energetic people who want to make a difference and be part of dynamic teams who like to think outside of the box. The development of activity worker roles is an example of this and is seen as a way to support activity and engagement for those people admitted to the hospital.

Person SpecificationExperienceEssential- Experience of working with groups of people
Desirable- Experience of working within mental health
SkillsEssential- Confidence and competence in using IT systems (e.g. Outlook, Word, clinical or other record systems) relevant to the role.
QualificationsEssential- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) or equivalent knowledge and experience
KnowledgeEssential- An awareness of Occupational Therapy and the importance of meaningful occupations.
OtherEssential- Ability to undertake and maintain annual PMVA training (Personal Safety in the community and full PMVA in inpatient settings)
