Following the principles laid out in the Community Mental Health Framework for Adults and Older Adults (2019), the MINT has been developed to provide an innovative, person-centred set of interventions focused on individual needs. The post holder will be required:

  1. To provide client-centred occupational therapy interventions to service users with varied and sometimes complex needs, within the MINT Team, alongside multi-disciplinary team members and the occupational therapy team.
  2. To actively develop and implement a framework of care, which reflects a holistic approach to service user needs, and the seven pillars of clinical governance.
  3. To work under the supervision of a senior or clinical lead occupational therapist, applying clinical skills in assessment, treatment planning, intervention, and evaluation, including individual and group approaches.
  4. To contribute to the evaluation and development of the occupational therapy service, and (after appropriate training) take responsibility for supervising less experienced staff and students.
  5. To ensure adherence to professional standards and ethics as set out by the RCOT and HCPC.

Clinical responsibilities include:

  1. Providing empathetic interactions with service users, understanding the effects of disability on productivity, leisure, and ADL.
  2. Being sensitive to service users’ ethnic, cultural, and social backgrounds, using appropriate communication skills.
  3. Evaluating referrals for occupational therapy intervention and identifying treatment priorities.
  4. Conducting comprehensive assessments, treatment planning, interventions, and evaluations, including risk assessments.
  5. Adapting activities to meet the occupational performance, environmental, and vocational needs of service users.
