This is an exciting opportunity to join our motivated Occupational Therapy Team at High Secure Services Broadmoor Hospital. Working with our complex forensic patient population in high security is an invaluable experience. The post involves working within a well-established and respected Occupational Therapy service with patients diagnosed with severe mental illness or personality disorder.
The Role at Broadmoor Hospital offers additional allowances, including a Broadmoor Hospital Allowance and Recruitment & Retention premium, reflecting the value placed on the occupational therapist profession in High Secure Services.
The hospital has relocated to a new, bespoke, and modern high-security forensic hospital—the most advanced in the country. It emphasizes innovative care for a challenging and engaging patient group. There is a strong commitment to multi-professional teamwork, focusing on reducing risk and offending behaviors.
The ideal candidate is a resourceful, motivated Occupational Therapist, experienced in mental health (not necessarily forensic), who enjoys new challenges and seeks development opportunities.
The post holder will be responsible for one ward and will work with Occupational Therapy Assistants across all patient sessions. The team collaborates to provide group and individual treatment goals. Occupational Therapists at High Secure Services are highly valued members of the multidisciplinary team.
The hospital offers various services to meet the evolving needs of patients throughout their recovery. Occupational Therapists work closely with vocational services, a health and fitness team, and a recovery college, alongside other Allied Health Professionals.
This role provides an opportunity to develop and enhance your skills as a Band 5, with support and guidance from senior staff. The Occupational Therapy Service offers training in the Vona Du Toit Model of Creative Ability (VdTMoCA), a well-established practice model.
