Job summary

Sanctuary Personnel is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist for a Social Services role in Blackburn. This full-time locum position offers £30 per hour, an ASAP start, and ongoing work across community settings.

You will conduct community assessments, plan equipment and adaptations, and collaborate with families, social workers, and healthcare professionals to deliver personalised support plans. A HCPC registration is required and driving may be preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience with community or local authority social services is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of equipment provision and manual handling assessments.
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle preferred due to travel requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive community assessments within a local authority setting to identify individual needs.
• Recommend appropriate equipment and adaptations to promote independence and safety.
• Plan and facilitate minor and major adaptations to improve accessibility and functionality.
• Undertake detailed manual handling assessments and provide recommendations for safe practice.
• Collaborate with clients, families, social workers, healthcare professionals and other agencies to develop personalised support plans.
• Promote independence to achieve positive outcomes at home and in the community.
• Maintain accurate records in line with professional and organisational requirements.
• Provide specialist Occupational Therapy advice to colleagues and other professionals where appropriate.

What you will do:

Requirements:

• Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• Minimum of 2 years' relevant Occupational Therapy experience.
• Experience within community or local authority Social Services is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of equipment provision, adaptations, and manual handling assessments.
• A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are preferable due to community-based travel requirements.
