Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen on the band 6 Occupational Therapy rotation at Barts Health NHS Trust. This is a rotational post, aimed at consolidating and enhancing knowledge and experience across acute rotations at The Royal London Hospital, Major Trauma Centre, and St Bartholomew’s Hospital, Tertiary Centre for heart and cancer care. The role provides high-quality patient assessment, treatment, and intervention as part of the specialist therapy team on each rotation.

We are looking for a highly skilled, innovative, and passionate individual to join our Band 6 Occupational Therapy team. The Royal London Hospital & St Bartholomew’s Hospital Band 6 Occupational Therapy rotation involves 9-month rotations across diverse areas.

The ideal candidate is motivated, autonomous, and dynamic, committed to improving clinical assessment and activity analysis skills, and providing high-quality, timely, and effective services to patients and the organization.

The successful candidate will collaborate with occupational therapy colleagues and work as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team to develop clinical, leadership, teaching, and service development skills within a supportive environment. The team values ongoing learning and development, and the successful candidate will be encouraged to lead and participate actively.

Main duties of the job

Provide high-quality occupational therapy interventions to a wide variety of patients, including advanced assessment and treatment, education, provision of assistive devices and equipment, minor structural home adaptations, and complex disability management and advocacy services.

Participate in the Band 6 rotational scheme across Royal London Hospital and St Bartholomew’s Hospital within Barts Health NHS Trust, working in various ward settings and departments including:

  • Acute Assessment Unit
  • Trauma and Orthopaedics
  • Care of the Elderly
  • Surgery, Vascular, and Amputees
